Many of you want to clip on Vans on wheels. We invite you from now on,  to discover the two Vans SK8 Hi Reissue Zip models! Originally dedicated to skateboarding, these models are among the stronger shoes of the brand. This sneakers provide a great foot maintenance thanks to a leather reinforcement at the base of both toes and heels. Today, the international skatepark rollergirl group Chicks in Bowls made of Vans, the symbol the comeback of quadskating in skatepark.

Conceived by and for the skateboard community since the end of the 60’s. Vans is also a reel skating icon. The alchemy between Vans and rollerskate exists since the end of the 70’s, born from a partnership with ACS rollerskate company : the first Vans rollerskates (undetachable). For the last New York Fashion week , the fashion director Thaddeus O’neil inspired by punk and disco made his models on Vans rollerskates. Ideal for urban move and leisure, the Vans clip on skates go together with the Iconic series. Thus it’s obvious to offer you two Vans models. They are now, available on our e-shop.
This new collection brings together style, lightness, sporting activity and usefulness. It is perfect to turn grey to sunny days. You are now ready to stroll with style in the city and on its concretes beaches.
Beside finding our model on our website, we are setting you a date during our next pop-up-store on saturday, may the 13th and on sunday 14th 2017. We hope to see many of you.

The Veja X Flaneurz adventure started in June 2015. Back then, Veja was already one of the first brand that had faith in us! Veja’s concept store “Centre Commercial” commercialized the Pantanal model, a dress shoe, during it’s 2012-2013 fall/winter collection. This model was turned into Flaneurz rollerskates during our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

This joint adventure is now taking an even greater and stronger dimension. Side by side, our two brands co-conceived one of the new models of our Spring Summer 2017 collection : Veja V-10 Nautico X Flaneurz.

The shoe is manufactured with organic cotton, cultivated by local producers without pesticides or fertilizers, in Brazil. The leather is tanned with plant extract and the sole is made of natural rubber from Amazon.
The rolling part features the color coding of the shoe and completes it. The choice of colors and finishing touches is the result of work in common between Veja and Flaneurz design offices. Light and all surfaces, those clip on skates are ideal for urban mobility, leisure and exploration.

Flaneurz won a poster campaign in Paris. Bringing to light the Spring/Summer 2017 flagship model is obvious! From 19th April to 26th April, you will have the chance to admire those posters in Paris and to get the Veja X Flaneurz model  available for pre-orders on our e-shop.

The PSX: A High-Level Competition…

Professionals and amateurs, juniors and seniors, men and women, inline and quad skaters, they all compete on an original obstacle course in a space specially set-up for the occasion, the EGP 18 (Espace de Glisse de Paris 18).

The program includes: high jumps and 4-skater obstacle races, for an unmissable moment in the skating scene, gathering the best skaters in the world for this two-stars leg of the French Cup and two-stars leg of the World Cup of Skate Cross (World Skate Cross Series).

… And a Moment to Share Gathered Around Skating…

Conviviality and sharing are the key-words of the weekend. Between two great moments of suspense and sport, spectators, volunteers and competitors can all enjoy the warm and festive atmosphere of the PSX, with a food stand, activities and shows: raffle, roller soccer, roller dance, exhibitors’ village…

Fluo, stabilo, to highlight... Capsule F is a joie de vivre manifesto, a big thrills shoot! Wink to the eighties, golden age of roller quad, to fluokids, fluo absorbs and re-issues the light. The flâneur will be seen, unique.”

Capsule F, F like Fluo, F like Flaneurz, 7 words beginning by F, 7 words like the 7 days of the week, the Capsule F, one strong sensation to live on a daily basis.

LIMITED EDITION /

Flaneurz introduces Capsule F on 22 February 2017 in 15 units. A launching event is organized for this occasion in Paris, at the C.O.Q Hotel "Community Of Quality".
Each pair of the capsule is numbered by hand by a marking "limited ed" on the inner eyelet , with sneakers special paint and is accompanied by a collector prêt-à-porter collection (sweatshirt, T-shirt, totebag).

PAINT /

The first step is the most meticulous: the leather treatment which allows impermeability of the shoe, inter alia. Three Fluo paint layers of interspersed with drying time of few hours, brightened the Nike Air Force One White. Each part of the sneaker is treated with different additives depending on the material: the "back logo", the "superior scratch logo", the AIR on the midsole, the lining and the inner leash.

SEWING /

During his artist residency in Venice, Amedeo Abello led a project "Post Cards from a ghetto", to sublimate the mainstream postcards of the Serenissima. This technique, mastered to highlight the forgotten beauty, catches the eye with the DMC Fluo sewn with special curves leather needles. The laces allows a continuity of the Fluo line on the upper of the shoes.

ROLLING PART /

Roll Line, an italian worldwide leader brand in the of artistic skating field, made a prominent entrance in the  roller derby world. Roll Line Products are the result of many years spent in research and development. Roll Line equips Flaneurz Premium serie products.

The plate is performing, ideal for technical and demanding sporty skating.

The reactive wheels are chosen to skate on any type of surface: indoor and outdoor.

An event was organized to launch Capsule F in Paris, at the C.O.Q Hotel "Community Of Quality", a warm and singular place that promotes made in France.

Flaneurz’ Clique had the opportunity to welcome journalists, bloggers, partners and to present them Capsule F.

Amedeo Abello told the genesis of this capsule, his approach... He described the various stages to customize every shoe, allowing each one to realize the accuracy to give to sublimate Nike Air Force One.

Jean-Marc Gravier is a Flaneurz’ ambassador (tester of prototypes and actor of the product evolution) and skates in Nike Air Force One Black. He waited for a long time a concept like the On Wheelz system. His enthusiasm brought a lot to the project development.

“I use them three or four times a week, even every day ! to move in the city, when I am teaching as a roller instructor (urban skating, free skate, skatepark, hockey initiation…).”

Leading figure in the skating universe, he is roller-dancer in the SkateXpress crew whose he is the manager. “They allow an innovative and new style of dance.” 

Jean Marc is a rollerskate professional monitor with a past of high level (various times ranked in european in aggressive skating competition). He contributed to the writing of the pedagogic and citizen rules of the roller skate with the French roller federation (project : C.O.D.E). He spends more than 40h a week on wheels. We call him the perfect ambassador for Flaneurz’ rollerskates.

“They are really comfortable compared toinline skates or even artistic boots. The châssis between the skate plate and the shoe ensure a good transmission of energy to the rolling part, as a consequence those “sneaker rollerskates” are réactive and precise. I can wear them for hours, which is a real advantage for my job (up to 6h per day on rollerskates).”

You will be able to meet him and make the most of his savoir-faire on many occasions:

He will present a roller dance training course in Paris, organised by the Gossipskate association, for whom he give courses on regular basis, on the 18 -19th february week end.

You could also meet him in Bordeaux where he will present the “Bordeaux roller tour” which takes place from 16 to 23 July. 

If you do not have the opportunity to participate, he will be at the “Constellation” event in collaboration with La Main collectif (creator of the festival and OnWheelz parties) and whose Flaneurz is partner. This event is a creation of Julie Navarro which will integrate a roller party in the heart of the most important collection of modern art in Europe (Georges Pompidou Centre - Paris) from 14pm to 18pm on sunday 26th February.

And why not, assist to one of his roller training courses (dance, free skate, skatepark…). You can directly contact Gossipskate and Roller et Compagnie associations.

“In a professional point of view, it is an advantage of not carrying an extra pair of shoes or rollers in addition to my teaching equipment. As a roller dancer : these skates offers a flexibility and an unique look compared to traditional boots.”

Challenge de la création :

A competition organised every two years by La Plaine Commune Promotion, which honours young entrepreneurs established on the territory of Plaine Commune (Aubervilliers, Epinay, La Courneuve, L’Ile-Saint-Denis, Pierrefitte, Saint-Denis, Stains and Villetaneuse). The laureate selection is made according to the quality of the creation project, and of its reliability.

On this occasion, Flaneurz won the first prize in the “innovation” category and 2 000 euros offered by La Plaine Commune Promotion.  

Talents des cités :

Since 2002, the Talents des Cités competition rewards every year 40 district’s entrepreneurs.

Talents des Cités is a positive and concrete operation organised by the highest state’s institutions and supported by big french enterprises.

On this occasion, Flaneurz went to the Senate where the president of the Senate welcomed us in the heart of the republican institutions in the presence of Government members, Talents des Cités’s collaborators and personalities of economic, sporty and cultural sectors.

400 applicants at the beginning, 40 projects rewarded at the regional level, 10 laureates at the national level. Flaneurz received 3 prizes : 1 regional, 1 national and the big prize.

Com’une start up :

The first prize which rewards start-ups’ communication. Launched by La Big Address (1st ecosystem of communication solutions). This competition puts the spotlight on enterprises’ innovation and on the french entrepreneurship.

The role of La Big Address is to accelerate, startup communication of the most promising ones.

On this occasion, 27 startups have been selected (among 90 startups in competition) and rewarded by a jury composed of communication experts.

Flaneurz won the Big GOLD trophy in two of the 9 categories of the competition : in the storytelling one, for our Own Paris campaign, and in the financing category for our crowdfunding campaign. To our great surprise, we also won the big prize of the competition ! This rewards the start-up which has most affected the jury by its activity presentation as well as by its crowdfunding campaign.

Thanks to this competition Flaneurz has obtained :

• A grant of communication on all solutions proposed by La Big Address.

• A big prize, a campaign of visibility on Paris of 60 000€ offered by Clear Channel and M6-TV group.

• A complete and personalized support on La Big Address website.

• A media coverage on M6 publicity and on “Stratégies”.

• A prize of Big Tips to accede to communication service on the platform.

Trophée Espoirs de l’Economie :

A competition which rewards some of the best young enterprises of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, allowing them to add value to their image and savoir-faire through the success of their project and development.

Rewarded in the “creator” category, Flaneurz won : 

• 2000€ of grant

• 2x200€ of gift card, a part of which has been used as Christmas gift for the Clique. A One Man Show with all the Clique.

We are grateful to have received those prestigious rewards one year after launching of our website. Those prizes allowed us to obtain more visibility and credibility. This reassures us on our concept and for our development in the future. The Clique is more motivated and will intend to win more prizes this year! So, 2017 will be much more promising. You haven’t finished hearing from Flaneurz and its removable skates !

“Did approximately 7 miles on them that first night! My brief review is basically that they're quite good skates; my biggest problem with them is that the shoes are too narrow for my wide feet, but that's Nike's fault, not Flaneurz's. This particular model of shoe doesn't perfectly fit to my way of riding, so I noticed a little less flexibility than I like, but that's a minor quibble. “30 days on wheelz

Hey,

I thought that you might like a more detailed report of my 30 days on wheelz.

These 30 days I’ve skated between 2 and 7 km every day, and walked on the shoes mostly the rest of the day. I’ve skated over tarmac, cobblestones, sidewalks and all sorts of pavement. Some long distance, some quickly getting from 1 point to another for pokemon :)

At first I thought the shoes were too small, but after about 5 days they formed after my feet and they were perfect.

I already knew the plates so, yeah, amazing as I’m used from Roll-line, great choice! The wheels I didn’t know, but since these were from the same manufacturer, in knew they were good, which proved to be true.

This is an amazing product, and I hope you guys are not done developing.

If you want to join the community and walk or roll around with clip on roller skates too, feel free to share your opinion with photos and videos #Flaneurz. We'll share your experience with the community.

Our Skatelab is located at La Courneuve (Seine Saint Denis). We work there every day in order to deliver a product which answer to your expectations. Every single pair of skates is made (one by one) by hand (more than 3 hours of work and 6 machines are necessary to produce a pair).

This include the component assembly (30 min on the rolling part, 30 min on the rolling chassis, the shoes transformation (1h30), the quality control (20 min) and the packaging (15min).

After 2 years of R&D and 7 prototypes, On Wheelz is a mechanical system patented. It is made up of 20 pieces realized in France. Approved by our podiatrist collaborator and shoemakers, our On Wheelz system has also been tested by rollerskate professionals. For making it we surround ourselves with collaborators of quality such as :

• Sidas, a french company created in 1975, producing soles provided to many podiatrists as raw material.

• Emporte pièce des Marais, a french company, created in 1982, is a manufacturer of punch at steel.

• 3M, an american company created in 1902, using science in a collaborative way to make everyday life better.

The On Wheelz system’ steel pieces are produced in Vendée, the clip out key and the spring in Haute-Alpes. Plastic pieces in the Cher. This show our desire to supply a 100% french-made system.

Every single pieces is selected with great care in order to offer you the best quality. We work with leader enterprises in rollerskate components. Flaneurz surrounds itself with market leading companies in rollerskate components :

• Roll Line, an italian worldwide leader brand in the field of artistic roller, which is making a very much noticed start in the world of roller derby for more than 15 years.

• Sure Grip, a californian brand, created in 1937 and a roller quad specialist.

• Kryptonics, an american company which was created in 1965 and revolutionized the world of skateboard wheels and then rollerskating itself.

A part of the operations is also subcontract in a ESAT (enterprise employing disabled workers notably located in the 93) creating, perpetuating in this way jobs in an indirect manner.

What skating discipline(s) do you practice?

I practice many disciplines : derby, street, park,  ramble, slope, foot roller.

Tell us more about your choice of practices?

I am deeply involved in derby because, it is a discipline which has allowed me to discover news things in rollers. Moreover, I like to give my knowledge, as far as can, particularly on derby.

Is your job related to your practice of skating? Why?

No, it isn’t, unfortunately because I didn’t find a good way to live of my passions.   

Did you get any titles, certifications?

The derby team I play for Panam Squad derby league that is second of the French championship. Moreover, I have been elected player of the year by 5seconds.

Where does your passion come from?

My passion for rollerskating comes from when I was 8 years old . My parents bought me my first rollerskates and I became a fan since this day.

In which situation(s) do you use your On Wheelz?

I use them when I’m visiting my friends (when I am not training) and when the weather is fine. I take advantage of these opportunities to take a little shoot of rollerskating and to enjoy the feelings it provides. The advantage is I neither need an extra pair of shoes in my backpack when I’m skating, nor a complete pair of rollers once I reach my destination. For example, when I am going to coach the derby girls, I do not want to take all my equipment as I know I won’t practice derby with them.

How comfortable are the On Wheels for walking and for skating?

Super comfort, I have nothing to say.

Did you meet any difficulties by cliping and uncliping?

When I received my On Wheelz Top Ten, as I was filming for a Flaneurz video, I had difficulties and I put pressure on myself. In fact, we have to begin by the weaker foot to feel more comfortable to put on the second one.

Now, let's present our great team of Beta testers.

To start with, here is Chloé Seyres, aka Kozmic Bruise. Roller skating is essential to her. She has been closely following our project from the very beginning and we are proud to call her one of our 7 beta­testers. Chloé left the Flaneurz workshop with a smile on her face and a paire of On Wheelz Premium Air Force One at her feet. A few months later we asked her to introduce herself and give us her feedback about her On Wheelz Premium Air Force 1:

What skating discipline(s) do you practice?

I’ve been playing derby for 5 years and I’d practiced freestyle slalom on inlines for 10 years before that, both as a competitor. On the side, I also love a little skatepark, freeskate, and roller dance, on quads and inlines.

Tell us more about your choice of practices?

After a long career in freestyle, I felt like having a go at derby: I went from a very technical and creative individual practice on inline skates, to a performance team sport on quads, to get new sensations and discover another way of approaching sport. I started rollerdance around the same time (even if I’d love to have the time to dance more), to keep this creative and personal dimension that I kind of miss a little in derby.

Is your job related to your practice of skating? Why?

I started my job, translator, within the world of skating, doing reports of freestyle events in both French and English versions for worldslalomseries.com, then in translating technical sheets, equipment tests and event reviews for online- skating.com. I’ve resumed my studies to become a qualified translator, and I’m finishing a Masters degree in literary translation, which should open me more opportunities in the translation world. By the way, my first contract is on a comic book about roller derby... Skating’s never really far!

Did you get any titles, certifications?

I won several times the World, European and French championships of freestyle slalom skating in different disciplines (classic, battle, and speed) and I was world number 1 in both freestyle and speed for 2-­3 years.
In Derby, I’m part of the French Team and I had the chance to take part in the two first world cups, in 2011 in Toronto and in 2014 in Dallas. We also won the European tournament in 2014.

I passed the instructor certification level 1 in my early years of skating, which enabled me to run slalom classes in various clubs for 7 years. I also did some derby coaching (and still today, but more occasionally), mainly agility, within my leagues or on bootcamps.

Last but not least, I’m also a certified international freestyle judge and I had the honor of judging a lot of competitions throughout the world, including 4 world championships! I played a good role in the updating and writing of the current WSSA rules, as a member of the international technical committee.

Where does your passion come from?

I always did some roller skating when I was a kid, but I had the revelation one day in witnessing a slalom demo. I was 13 at the time. Before, I had spent 2 years doing ramp skating on the docks of Bordeaux. I took up slaloming (with detachable skate, btw! which I replaced real quick) because I fell in love with the challenge of coordination and moves creation, the pure technique of it.

For which situation(s) do you use your On Wheelz?

I use them for street skating. It’s particularly handy to switch from one mode of transport to another (skates, public transportation). It’s my go­to pair to go grocery shopping and go out at night without having to lug my skates around.

How often do you use them? Daily, weekly, monthly?

I use them daily, several times a week according to the mood of the day.

How comfortable are the On Wheels for walking and for skating?

The boots of the On Wheels are real sneakers, I don’t feel any difference with my other pairs of shoes.

The On Wheelz are very comfortable for skating. The outsole of the shoes being thick, it’s rigid enough to be reactive. To be honest, I don’t even bother lacing them, I just tighten up the ankle strap.
There’s no play between the plate and the shoe, it’s sturdy, and you trust them when you have to speed up, make a sharp direction change, or switch from road to sidewalk.

Did you meet any difficulties for clipsing and unclipsing?

It comes quite fast. I didn’t need much time to get the hang of it. It’s always a bit more acrobatic to clip the second plate, but with a little training, you’ll make it!
To unclip, I pull out the heel and then pivot the plate to the side to unlock the front hook, that’s way easier than trying to take the plate off following the same line as your foot.

What is the biggest advantage of the On Wheelz today?

The main advantage of the On Wheelz is their hybrid status and the fact that the concept is optimal for both uses, skating and walking. And that’s a real first: I know what I’m talking about, I’ve tried a few detachable skates already!
